University of Minnesota Human Resources or Payroll experience to include PeopleSoft.

Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Payroll experience demonstrating high degree of accuracy and compliance with payroll policies & procedures.

Experience with University of Minnesota on-line Employment System.

University Employee Benefits knowledge.

Academic Health Center HR experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Capable of independent task completion.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Duties/Responsibilities

70% Work with hiring authority and U of M job classification system to develop job descritpions for new and replacement Civil Service and Bargaining Unit staff position. Review and approve essential qualifications, preferred qualifications, job descriptions, program descriptions and unity organizational charts.

Assist all departmental supervisors on determining salary for new hires, reclassifications, and salary adjustments for establish and maintain departmental equity.

Coordination of job transfers with other University departments.

New employee orientation.

Explain University payroll/benefits policies. Benefits coordinator/contact for Employee Benefits.

Develop templates for offer and appointment letters.

Contact for employees after hire for multiple payroll and human resources questions (ex. Reclassifications, LOA's, FMLA, Layoff-Nonrenewal, OT Policy, Vacation/sick leave policy), University policy, benefits, clarification of Civil Service/Bargaining Unit rules.

Develop criteria to support unit salary equity.

Preparation of orientation materials for all employees.

Keep current with new HR policies (ex. Union Contracts, CS Rules, & policy for termination employees COBRA).

15% Track multiple dates (employee start dates, step increases, termination dates, performance reviews, probationary terms, etc.).

Audit document associated directly with University payroll operations (abstract) each pay period to assure accuracy.

Calculation of increases, retroactive payment, overpayments, and leave of absences.

Part of the administrative center's HR office team, providing backup & across-coverage for HR functions for academic, student & professional student employee groups.

15% Work with multiple University-related programs (PeopleSoft entry and inquiry, EDMS, AHC-HRTSIII).

Maintain knowledge of University and Academic Health Center human resource policies by attending meetings and training.

Program/Unit Description

This position is located in the Departments of Pediatrics, Ob/Gyn & Women's Health Administrative Center HR/Payroll Office, responsible for Civil Service and Bargaining Unit positions throughout the Center. Our office takes great pride in providing faculty and staff with EXCELLENT service.
