FRONT END CHECKER
Regular Full Time - $19.25-$22.25/HR
SHIFTS: Evening/Closing - Weekends Required
Essential Functions:
- Provide excellent and quality service to customers
- Respond to customers’ questions and answer to best of ability
- Accurate handling of money including preparing loans and pulls, credit card and check transactions, maintain accurate cash control, process returns, exchanges and credits
- Complete gift cards sales to customers when required
- Maintain the cleanliness of the check stand
- Check out and bag customer groceries quickly and accurately
- Proficient with all PLU codes and the register PLU flip chart
- Follow and enforce Federal and State regulations regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages, tobacco and taxation
- Properly apply tares when ringing up scalable items
- Follow all proper cash handling procedures
- Follow established check, ATM and credit procedures
- Maintain a calm, friendly and professional demeanor at all times
- Walk produce department as needed to learn about new products and codes
- Pass weekly produce code test
- Assist Front End Store Leads and Customer Service Managers in regulating customer flow to reduce waiting time for customers
- Answer department telephone calls and with proper phone etiquette
- Operate Front End equipment in a safe and proper manner
- Keep the front end clean, sweep floors and sanitize front end equipment, straighten up register
- Clean and stock the Front End Department particularly one’s own register, change register tape and ribbon when necessary
- Perform other duties as directed by Front End Customer Service Manager and Front End Store Lead
Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous cashier/checker experience
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Great interpersonal skills necessary for good customer and employee relations
- Problem solving skills and ability to multitask
- Self-motivated, proactive and solution–oriented
- Have a strong basis in basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
- Possess knowledge of basic computer/register skills
- Able to make effective decisions under time constraints
- Dependable and reliable to work shifts as scheduled
- Ability to solve customer request and needs
