The Division of Gynecologic Oncology at the Univ! ersity of Minnesota seeks 1 board-eligible / board certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join their clinical practice at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Gynecologic Oncology has a clinical practice which does include both a residency and fellowship training program.

The gynecologic oncologists at the University of Minnesota treat multiple cancers (uterine, cervical, ovarian, vulvar and vaginal) as well as complicated benign gynecologic conditions. The practice includes the surgical management of these patients in addition to the administration of adjuvant therapies such as chemotherapy.

In this role, the NP/PA will:
Practice primarily in the inpatient clinical practice setting with shared responsibility for assessment and management of patients admitted to the Gynecologic Oncology service which includes the following:

Coordination of care for! patients throughout the course of evaluation and treatment, i! ncluding hospital admission, surgical intervention, inpatient care, and discharge planning â€" coordinating the continuity of care between the hospital floor setting, operating room, and discharge.

Writing admission history and physicals, daily progress notes, orders and discharge summaries. Directs discharge planning and follow up. Helps to identify and implement strategies to decrease length of stay and readmission rates on the inpatient service.

Helps focus efforts to improve the quality of care and patient satisfaction.

Educates patients and/or families about their gynecologic condition, discharge planning/followup plan, preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications.

Performs inpatient procedures such as: drain removal, central/venous access removal and wound care (including wound vacuum).

Will be instrumental in the development of care pathways and protocols for Gynecolog! ic Oncology service line.

Active involvement with quality improvement initiatives as well as best practice models for hospital.

Participate in resident and staff education, independent or requested consultation, research, and administration activities.

Analyzes new knowledge gained from conferences, workshops, professional literature, or "hands-on training" and assimilates this knowledge into clinical practice.

Facilitate the enrollment of patients into inpatient clinical trials

Position Qualifications:
A qualified candidate will be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and formal Adult Practitioner training program or a graduate of an accredited Physician's Assistant program. Have a current MN RN license and be approved or eligible by the Minnesota Board of Nursing for prescription writing privileges or a current PA license with prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice. Be certified thro! ugh ANCC or eligible for ANCC national exam or through the NCCPA and me! et threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges.

Required BLS and ACLS certification. If not current will have 3-4 months to become certified from date of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous patient care experience is preferred. Experience in Gynecology/Gynecologic Oncology is preferred, but not required.
