Responsibilities Unit supervisor functions as a supervisor in the clinical setting, above the scheduled staffing pattern, as a resource, educational support, communication liaison and role model of professional nursing practice The Unit Supervisor assumes responsibility for day to day operations and clinical coordination of the unit Participates in planning, implementing, coordinating and evaluating patient care activities, staff education, and management activities as delegated Employee performance, management evaluation, orientation plan for unit staff unit budget (FTE, supply, capital) recommendations, unit operational decisions disciplinary actions (in collaboration with Patient Care manager) unit communication Input for unit specific policies/procedures; staffing plans; unit goals Qualifications Education & Experience: Baccalaureate degree in nursing required (or actively enrolled in BSN/BAN program)! Current license for Registered Nurse in the state of MN Certification in clinical specialty preferred Additional certifications as required by individual patient care/unit/department 2-3 years of clinical nursing experience with 1-2 years of supervisory/preceptor experience Must have one year current Labor and Delivery experience Current inpatient obstetrical nursing experience in an acute care facility including labor/delivery/antepartal/LDRP care preferred Critical thinking problem solving skills Fetal Heart monitoring skill interpretation Strong assessment skills/prioritization Delegation skills Customer service and interpersonal skills Multitasking skills Team work Excellent verbal and written communication skills Computer skills Current NRP and BLS training Skills: Demonstrated clinical expertise Strong communication skills Demonstrated leadership abilities, including collaboration, conflict resolution Consensus building, team building Personnel management Coaching an! d mentoring Ability to problem solve, plan and organize Pay,Benefits, &! Work Schedule Part time position 32 hours per week Day shift M-F with possible call responsibilities Non contract Location/Community Information Minneapolis boasts being both cosmopolitan yet small enough that you can find a place to call home whether on a lake, golf course, or in an adjoining suburb.
