Department Overview:
OBSTETRICS Busy 16 bed LDRP with 4 bed Level II Special Care Nursery for infants 34 weeks and above. National recognition for high Patient Satisfaction and integration of Complimentary Therapies (water birth, essential oils, healing touch, music therapy, hydrotherapy and guided imagery) into patient care.

Primary Function & Major Responsibilities Develops, implements and evaluates programs necessary to address community needs and concerns that enhance the continuum of care to customers of perinatal services.Screens patients and facilitates discharge planning and utilizes marketing skills to generate appropriate admissions/referrals by physicians, so patients can experience the maximum service from HealthEast MCC.Act as public liaison to Maternity Care Center customer by providing information regarding perinatal services at HealthEast facilities.Develops, coordinates, and assists with projects which involve the maternity Care Center.Participates in activities that contribute to improved clinical competence and professional growth.Acts as role model and resource for staff in order to promote teamwork and cooperation.
Qualifications
Graduate of accredited School of Nursing.Current license to practice nursing in the State of Minnesota.BSN or BA or Certification in Perinatal Nursing required.
Experience:
Minimum four years experience in Perinatal Nursing and/or Community Outreach.Specialty certification required within first two years.Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilties: Knowledge of nursing care and practice in caring for perinatal patients.Good interpersonal skills.Strong problem solving skills.Ability to work independently.Demonstrated marketing skills.Demonstrated ability to teach adults both in small and large groups, and individually.Demonstrated effective communication skills.Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients in appropriate age groups (neonatal, adolescent, and adult).Regular/Temporary
