ABOUT THE COURT
Los Angeles Superior Court is the largest unified trial court in the United States. Its 580 judges and commissioners work in one of the 40 facilities within the Court's 12 judicial districts and are supported by more than 4,500 full-time Court employees. The Court has an annual budget of more than $855 million. Located in Southern California, Los Angeles County is geographically one of the nation's largest counties, covering 4,084 square miles and, with over 10,400,000 residents, is also one of its most populous counties.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Judicial and Administrative Support II is responsible for supporting a Supervising District Judge, Supervising Judicial Officer in Juvenile, Judicial Officers at an assigned location, and/or Senior Administrator, Deputy Director, or other equivalent senior-level manager over an operation that covers a district, or which has multiple major functions, by performing difficult administrative support duties (e.g., duties which involve researching and providing options to resolve administrative and organizational problems of moderate scope and impact). In addition, incumbents are expected to exercise care and discretion in the handling of highly sensitive and confidential information.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
To qualify, you must meet one of the following options at the time of filing:

Option I: 60 semester (90 quarter) units from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of increasingly responsible administrative support experience.

Option II: Five (5) years of increasingly responsible administrative support experience.

Note: Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Knowledge of clerical and administrative support practices and procedures, including filing and record keeping.
  • Knowledge of Court organization, functions, rules, policies and procedures applicable to assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Advanced knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and other standard software to create complex documents and materials.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize, set priorities and exercise sound judgment within areas of responsibility.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

EXAMINATION INFORMATION:
Part I: Qualifying evaluation of education, training and experience based upon submitted application materials and supplemental questionnaire. The applicants with the highest qualifications as determined by this evaluation process will be invited to participate in the examination process.

Part II: Online examination, weighted 100%, that may consist of any combination of written, performance, or oral appraisal to further evaluate job-related experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.
