The LPN provides nursing care to patients defined by the units scope of care. The LPN also maintains competencies in the technical skills needed to perform nursing procedures, administer medications, and safely operate equipment needed to enhance care. Under the direction of the RN, the practical nurse collaborates with physicians, the patient and family, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to meet each patients individualized needs. Provides nursing care under supervision of RN for patients primarily consisting of newborns, postpartum and post cesarean section, and adult female medical surgical patients. Infrequently will provide care to Level I neontates and pediatric patients. Will also frequently be in role of scrub nurse for obstetrical pr! ocedures performed on the Birthing Center. Must be graduate of! an accredited nursing program.
Previous experience in obstetric, operative, medical/surgical or maternal/child nursing preferred, which is typically acquired in 12 years, and/or the ability to demonstrate achievement of unit specific competencies. Must have the ability to plan, organize and complete assignments as directed. Must have the ability to deal tactfully with hospital personnel, medical staff, patients and family members as well as the general public. Must have the ability to complete records and requisition forms accurately, timely and to write legibly. Must have the ability to access, manipulate, organize and relay information in meaningful ways using email, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and database management. Must possess and demonstrate critical thinking skills. Demonstrates knowledge and practice of personal protective equipment, safety, and infection control according to policy and procedure. Current LPN Licensure in state ! of North Dakota required for employment. BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required for employment. NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Provider) certification within 6 months of employment.
