Responsibilities

Scope of responsibility includes leadership, clinical practice, consultation, education, research, and interdisciplinary collaboration

Role includes both direct patient care responsibilities and programmatic work for system and hospital wide pain improvement initiatives

Direct patient care responsibilities consist of consulting and rounding on inpatients with pain issues

Programmatic work consists of (1) serving as a leader/consultant/mentor/change agent in advancing the practice of nursing to achieve quality, cost-effective patient and family outcomes for pain management, (2) leading and participating in interdisciplinary groups to design and implement innovative alternative solutions and programmatic changes that address pain management and (3) partnering with others to design and deliver education to prom! ote better pain management to interdisciplinary audiences

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and a masters degree from a program that prepares Nurse Practitioners

ACLS certification required

Qualifications

Experience:
Previous experience as a Nurse Practitioner is preferred but not required, pain management experience is also preferred

Must be willing to obtain pain certification

Skills:
Self-starter with strong leadership, problem solving, project management and organization skills

Proven ability to take initiative, think creatively, and be flexible in order to meet they dynamic needs of patients and the organization

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with patients, physicians, nurses, and other specialties to promote and advance the best care possible for he patient

Must b! e comfortable working with challenging patients

Ability to ind! ependently prioritize time between patient visits and programmatic work

Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule

Part-time: 32-40 hours/week

Potential to become a Full-time position

Day Shift

Every 4th weekend: dependent on number of staff in the department
