Clinic Lab Supervisor

Location: Edina Minnesota

OBGYN & Infertility 'OGI' (a division of Obstetrics and Gynecology Associates) focuses on providing comprehensive OB/GYN services throughout all phases of a womans life. OBGYN & Infertility has an opening for a Lab Supervisor who can work at both our Edina and Maple Grove clinics. Position includes both supervisory responsibilities of the lab department and medical assistant responsibilities when working with patients.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Maintains medical laboratory staff by recruiting, orienting, and training employees.
Planning, monitoring, and appraising job performance.
Scheduling and assigning employees.
Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
Maintains medical laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
Review of quality control and! quality assurance programs; making adjustments in policy and ! procedures; generating reports; maintaining records.
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations. Ensures compliance with CLIA and OSHA standards.
Maintains medical laboratory information system by identifying information needs and problems (LabCorp and MetroPath Laboratories); recommending improvements; establishing priorities; testing; training employees; maintaining security and confidentiality.
Medical Assistant Responsibilities
Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit.
Measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patients chart.
Obtains blood specimens by performing veni-punctures and finger sticks.
Performs in house testing including UA, Hemoglobin, 1 hour glucose, 3 hour glucose and ICT stool samples.
Assist phy! sician and physician assistant in exam rooms.
Give instructions to patients as instructed by physician or nurse practitioner.
Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filed is available in patients medical records prior to their appointment.
Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required.
Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.)

Education/Experience
At least 3+ years experience as Supervisory exper! ience.
Previous medical assistant experience in a clinic setting. High school diploma; some college preferred
