Job Description
Cli! nical Practice - Provides safe therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way. Incorporates differences into the provision of care. Integrates knowledge, skills, and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care. Performs routine physical/psychosocial assessment to collect basic data: follows the plan of care, standards, practice guidelines, or protocols. Utilizes assessment data to identify patient care needs, to include patient education and continuum of care plan. Recognizes abnormal assessment data and incorporates findings into the plan of care: validates and revises expected outcomes based on assessment. Organizes and coordinates patient care activities to include procedures, therapies and tests, as indicated, to achieve the desired patient outcome. Engages in basic caring practices to include patient education focusing on psychosocial and physiological needs and serves as a resource to the patient for immediate healthcare ! needs. Provides compassionate care and maintains patient priva! cy and confidentiality. Able to state rationale for clinical decisions based on educational knowledge. Able to identify and articulate patient rights and variables affecting patient outcomes including age, ethnicity, cultural diversity, religious beliefs, physical disabilities, social and economic constraints. Accurately documents all patient care activities as per documentation standards. Quality/Best Practice - Utilizes standards, guidelines, and evidence based research for care delivery. Incorporates data and information to continuously improve care and practice to enhance patient outcome. Supports unit quality/performance improvement. Will maintain current practices through utilization of evidence based research. Demonstrates interest in improving job performance through formal/informal means in area relevant to practice (classes, workshops, reading, networking). Professional Development - Ensures improvements in practice settings by assuming responsibility for self-dev! elopment in life-long learning. Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice, serves as a resource, preceptor, and mentor. Leadership skills demonstrated in decision making and problem solving. Recognizes the need for continued education and consults with unit leadership to develop educational goals, identifies leadership attributes. Demonstrates evidence of self-development activities. Appropriately delegates tasks and provides direction to healthcare team members.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience : One to three years of previous RN experience preferred. Education: Associate of Arts degree or Diploma in nursing required. Bachelors degree in nursing required.

Other Qualifications:
Training: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within 3 months of hire. Completion of Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring course required within 18 month! s of hire. Completion of Periop 101 required within 18 months of hire (! as of 1/1/09 employees having completed circulating and scrub nurse training prior to this date meet this requirement).

License or Certification:
Licensure & Certification: Registered Nursing (RN) license in the state of Minnesota, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Bloodpressure, Lab work, and Emotional support (STABLE) certification preferred.

Hours/Pay Period: 48
Schedule Details: 12 hour shifts, rotating day/night shifts 7 to 7
Weekend Schedule: every third weekend/holiday
