Laboratory Assistant 1 – Pancreatic Cancer Research - Surgery [United States]


 
Description

The Department of Surgery is seeking to hire a full time Lab Assistant I to work in a cutting-edge pancreatic cancer research laboratory in the Department of Surgery under the mentorship of the Principal Investigator. You will work with pancreatic cancer cell lines and will be required to complete a variety of common lab techniques including PCR, DNA/RNA/protein isolation, ELISA, IHC and flow cytometry. You will also work with and maintain the lab’s pancreatic cancer model animal colonies. You will be located primarily within the Eibl laboratory space but, will be anticipated to interact closely with clinical and collaborating labs and personnel. Pay Range: $18.67 - $21.61 hourly.

Qualifications

Excellent skill in verbal and written communication, especially for the purpose of providing information to others in the laboratory. Ability to work with live animals Willingness to learn how to work with live animals Advanced skill and knowledge of computer applications. Skill in keeping accurate and complete records. Ability to perform work in an accurate and thorough manner with close attention to detail. Ability to be self-motivated, work with minimal supervision at times, handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload. Ability to work as part of a team and establish cooperative working relationships with researchers, residents, students, and other support personnel. Knowledge of UCLA Policies and Procedures, especially for safe lab work Ability to read and understand research and clinical protocols as guidelines. Organized, detail oriented, and able to quickly adapt to the addition of novel tasks.
