Business Manager [Panama]


 

The Business Manager is responsible and accountable for the coordination of business operations, including finance, HR, legal, and facility supervision. The Business Manager ensures timely and accurate bookkeeping, recordkeeping and reporting with particular emphasis on cash management, collection of funds, and implementation of the school budget. The School Business Manager ensures strict compliance with national regulations, including accurate and timely reporting. The Business Manager ensures the school and SABIS® brand, philosophy, systems, policies, and procedures are properly implemented and observed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing financial and business activities and ensuring timely and accurate bookkeeping, recordkeeping of all financial transactions and reconciliations.
  • Planning and managing enrollment and funding by ensuring accurate, timely, and appropriate reporting to the state and collection of funds from all sources.
  • Ensuring compliance with the financial management standards by reviews bills, invoices and checking on accuracy and integrity of business transactions as well as school’s account payables and receivables.
  • Preparing the school budget in timely and accurate manner and overseeing its implementation and adherence to the school and SABIS® corporate business office’s guidelines.
  • Ensuring the school’s purchasing policy and procedures are followed and adhered to, and playing an effective role in the purchasing and contract negotiation process in collaboration with the School Director and the SABIS® corporate business office.
  • Ensuring appropriate cash management, including timely and accurate deposits, recordkeeping and receipts.
  • Supporting and auditing the school operations regarding, but not limited to purchasing, logistics, maintenance, administration, marketing, legal, enrollment, etc. to ensure that operations are running efficiently and effectively as per SABIS® standards for a better optimization of resources and financial sustainability.
  • Overseeing recruitment, performance management, training and development for all employees to identify the types of skills, knowledge, understanding and experience required for existing and future planned activities.

Ideal Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Educational Administration; Master’s degree is a plus;
  • Experience in accounting, finance, and operations in business processes in Panama;
  • Possess valid and appropriate local certifications, as necessary;
  • High degree of proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook);
  • Familiar with Peachtree, Quickbooks, or similar accounting software;
  • Timely, accurate, and able to prioritize;
  • Ability to meet deadlines;
  • Ability to produce results independently and in a team environment;
  • Fluent in Spanish and strong command of the English language.
