Responsibilities


  • Works with Patient Care Manager, Patient Care Supervisor, Assistant Patient Care Managers, and clinical and unit staff to maintain systems for exchange of information/communication
  • Organizes the work environment
  • Secures supplies and supports unit operations for the achievement of patient care needs
  • Performs patient care and unit tasks that support the unit standard of patient care and facilitates unit operati ons
  • Works closely with charge RN for prioritization of unit work flow

Education


  • One to two years post-secondary education in health related field
  • Nursing Assistant certification or related experience
  • Current HUC certification/medical terminology or related experience
  • Basic computer skills which include keyboarding, order entry and Microsoft Office including Excel and Word

Qualification/Skills


Experience

  • Hospital experience preferred

Preferred Skills for Surgical Services:

  • Excellian: Optime Trained
  • Experience Scheduling procedures
  • Experience with Cadence
Additional Duties Unique to Pre/Post:
  • Release orders for Fast Track patients and validation of AVS items
  • Chart set up and break down in specific areas
  • Validation of H&P completion and compliance with required elements for H&P
  • Opening and Closing of department
  • Monitoring patient flow through Navicare or Status Board
  • Coordination with surgeon offices to verify availability of patient care documents (H&P and orders)
  • Coverage of mulitiple care areas within surgical services department
Skills:
  • Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in the English language
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work well with patients, families, and other team members
  • Demonstrates all the characteristics of service excellence and patient centered care: listening, respect, compassion and accepting individuality
  • Ability to function in fast-paced, highly complex and ever changing environment

Work Schedule


  • 24 hours per week (.6)
  • Day/Evening shifts
  • Rotating weekend and holiday shifts
  • L113 Contract
  • Benefit eligible
