Responsibilities
(Intravenous) Selects, calculates, and measures medication using sterile technique; label, charge and credit pharmacy IV products, packages IV medications; set-up, utilizes and, maintain admixture automation; (Inventory) Maintains mediation inventory levels including purchasing; handling back orders; receiving and checking supplies and stock; replenishing and distributing supplies and stock. (Unit dose check) Checks unit dose medication for accuracy following unit dose and Pyxis fill process. (Narcotics/Stock) Select medications and stocks patient care areas and surgical areas with floorstock and narcotics. Audits medications and interacts with managers to solve discrepancies. (Unit dose/prescription) Label, charge and credit pharmacy products, select and prepare non-sterile medications; enters and modifies patient medication order in computer; set-up, utilize, and maintain packaging automation. The pharmacy department provides all medication-related services to patient 24 hours a day. This includes obtaining, profiling, dispensing and monitoring all drugs. All medication orders are reviewed by pharmacy, and including chemotherapy and nutritional products. Ability to differentiate work a technician is able to perform with that requiring a pharmacist.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent required
1 year prior pharmacy experience is required
Requires registration with Minnesota Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician
A portion of this year may be considered in the form of documented internship under and ASHP-accredited pharmacy technician training program. NOTE: Pharmacy technician certification issued by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board does not constitute experience. Likewise completion of a pharmacy technician training program without internship does not constitute experience.
Skills
Ability to read, speak, understand and write in English effectively
Requires the performance of math calculations-- addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and work with algebraic formulas
Is expected to accurately read, transcribe, speak and understand verbal and written pharmaceutical terminology
Must be able to utilize a computer to perform tasks using PC software, automated dispensing technology and other computer applications
Ability to self-motivate and work cooperatively with others as a team, prioritizing work to meet customer needs
Licensure/Certification:
Requires registration with the Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician

Every Other Weekend
Work Schedule: Day/Evening rotation, every other weekend and holidays
