We currently have an exciti! ng new opportunity for a Sonographer On-Call where days and hours will vary Monday-Thursday 7:30am-5:30pm and Friday 7:30am-5:00pm not exceeding 37.5 hours per week.   • Provide high quality exams with minimum errors.
  • Ensure high quality patient care while working cooperatively with physicians and co-workers.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality.
  • Implement professional standards at all times using independent judgment as needed when necessary to depart from established techniques.
  • Act as a resource for other staff.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Registered American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) OR Graduate of a qualified ultrasound program that will attain ARDMS regi! stration within two years from graduation.
  • CPR Certification every two years
  • Written and oral communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in specific ultrasound area, e.g. OB / GYN, echocardiography, General Ultrasound, and knowledge of relative anatomy
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Must possess speech, hearing and sight skills to perform the functions of the position. Manual dexterity required. Must be able to speak, read and write English proficiently. Some lifting may be required. May need to travel from one clinic to another to perform job functions.

A Sonographer’s evaluation will be based on his/her performance in the following areas:

Accountabilities:
Performance is up to standard when the Sonographer:
  • Selects proper technical factors and operates equipment in a safe, effective manner, ! ensuring established protocol for quality control.
  • Documents a! nd processes reports, organizes VCR tapes/films, reviews finished exams for completeness, assists Sonologist/Radiologist with viewing and report of exams.
  • Keeps accurate records and statistics of all exams for Quality Control and patient outcomes.
  • Ensures an organized, safe and professional environment.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of anatomy. Uses independent judgment for exam comprehensives.
  • Is informed and knowledgeable regarding new technology. Implements new technology in department.
  • Follows strict OSHA standards.
  • Contacts patients and referring providers, as needed, e.g. results, follow-up, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Lead Sonographer and/or Sonologist.
Technical:
Performance is up to standard when the Sonographer:
  • Demonstrates clinical competence in using correct processes to provide care to patients and their families.
  • Implements established Heal! thPartners policies and procedures.
  • Provides support to patients and their families.
  • Documents patient information accurately and completely and keeps records regarding clinical practice.
  • Shares information with other members of the health care team.
  • Makes appropriate referrals.
  • Uses interdisciplinary resources to enhance own decision-making.
  • Solves problems appropriately seeking assistance from members of the HealthPartners team.
  • Uses appropriate systems, automated or manual, to obtain patient information and schedule appointments.
Education:
Performance is up to standard when the Sonographer:
  • Engages in ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of teaching in terms of understanding and application.
  • Participates in patient care conferences, in-services and educational programs in the HealthPartners system, hospital and community.
  • Develops new opportuniti! es, tools, and methods of teaching.
  • Maintains ARDMS Registrati! on by completing required continuing education.
  • Maintains CPR certification every two years, as required by HealthPartners policy.

Performance is up to standard when the Sonographer:
  • Serves as a role model in the enhancements of practice and professional conduct.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in performing additional responsibilities to contribute to the improvements in patient care and the functioning of the care unit and other support services.
  • Provides support to professional and technical staff.
  • Formulates and attains personal and professional goals which promote individual growth, the care unit philosophy and the HealthPartners mission.
